Some Practical Advice
/With so much uncertainty in the world, I want to give you some practical advice and spiritual encouragement. I know how the grocery stores can look like an apocalyptic disaster. And you can have a hard time getting supplies, especially if you are a senior citizen. Meijer, Aldi, and Dorothy Lane Market have set up special times for seniors to shop. Marc's on Whipp Rd. and Dorothy Lane Markets almost always have products in stock. They are unknown gems where you can get supplies.
If you are struggling or impacted by this financially, take care of the 4 walls of your budget first.
1. Food
2. Utilities
3. Shelter
4. Transportation
Press Pause paying extra on debt, save as much money as you can, and get part-time/temporary work if you can to help weather this storm. Amazon, Aldi, Krogers, Dollar General, Dominos, Meijer, Pizza Hut, Jet's Pizza, Target, Wal-Mart are hiring immediately. You have to understand this is temporary.
During this season of uncertainty I think the most important question we can ask is, “What does love require of me?” Maybe that means calling friends and family to see how they are doing. Maybe that means running to the grocery store for an elderly neighbor. Maybe that means putting back 1 of the 12 packs of toilet paper so someone else can have some. Maybe that means swallowing your pride, humbling yourself and taking on a part-time job so you can take care of your family. This is the time THE church can show the world what love looks like. The church was never about a building, it was a movement, loving people how Jesus loved us.
“No, O people, the Lord has told you what is good, and this is what he requires of you: to do what is right, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.”
Micah 6:8 (NLT)
Love,
Russell
